Traveler Hostel

Kadin: I didn’t really know much about Albania when I arrived in Tirana from Athens. I spent a few days there before I caught the bus to Shkoder as I was working my way up the coast. I was only supposed to stay for a couple nights but the time I spent with my new hosts made me extend my time. We spoke of history and similarities we shared even across the world. We shared food and coffee everyday. I met there friends who they grew up with and heard stories from them about there lives and there families lives. We would stay up late into the night discussing politics sports and anything else you could think of. I left for Croatia but vowed I would return I left my ring as proof of my return. When I returned I was welcomed as a brother a party was thrown and a cake shared. I became the recreation coordinator for the hostel and we would plan all sorts of fun for the guests bingo and pool tournaments trivia all had a night of the week. As a student of history I always thought you could read books to learn about a country. I learned in Albania it’s more then that you learn by speaking to them sharing stories food and drink that’s how you learn. I told them I would return and I intend to keep my promise. Shkoder is a beautiful place that I’m lucky to call my second home thank you Traveler’s hostel the sun will shine on us again.
